10 Fashion-tastic Halloween Costumes
Halloween can be a nightmare, and not just in the spooky, scary monster-filled way. I mean, dressing up is fun, but the pressure to come up with a unique and fun costume can be hard. In the words of Miranda Hobbs, “the only two choices for women are witch or sexy kitten.” But this year, put away the cat ears and the witchy wig and do something different. Halloween is a chance to have fun and experiment, and to be someone completely different for a night. It's also a great chance to be creative. Popular culture gives us lots of fun characters to take on for Halloween, and with the enormous popularity of wigs, you can completely change your look with change for a $10 bill. This Halloweeen, why not try something different? You could go all-out cute and feel good this halloween, or you could do the complete opposite and do something completely crazy (this is where I normally stand- I love dressing up!!). Or why not follow my list of fun, fashionable costumes below and live out your fantasy for one night?
- Anna Wintour
Notorious Vogue editor Anna Wintour has a signature look which is really easy to recreate. All you need is perfect business ensemble (an office-appropriate black dress or a blouse and skirt), big sunglasses and a perfect light brown bob.
- Victoria Beckham
A perfect short, dark wig, big sunglasses, skinny jeans, a leather jacket or blazer and skyscraper heels and your Victoria Beckham costume is ready to go.
- Kate Moss
Long, somewhat messy blonde hair, denim shorts, a tasselled vest, rain boots, smeared red lips and a cigarette in hand- festival-chic Kate Moss made easy.
- Vivienne Westwood
One of my favourite designers and a really fun costume. A long, crazy red wig, lots of contrasting layers, anything with a Union Jack on and lots of pattern and print.
- Coco Chanel
Perfect short black hair, a pretty pantsuit and all in monochrome, Chanel is an easy sophisticated costume.
- Audrey Hepburn
One of the world's biggest style icons- beehive hair, the perfect LBD, a trench coat, ballet flats and a cigarette holder- Audrey perfection.
- Lady Gaga
Oh the possibilities!! Choose your favourite iconic Gaga moment and go wild with a blonde wig. I really love this tutorial for a perfect Gaga-style hair bow.
- Mary-Kate Olsen
A big shaggy fur coat, endless layers and messy hair, Mary-Kate Olsen has boho chic down to a t.
- Rachel Zoe
Rachel Zoe is famous for her long maxi dresses, layered jewellery, gladiator sandals and big sunglasses. Style light brown waves to add to the look.
- Betsy Johnson
Betsy Johnson is all about fun. Choose something brightly coloured and then clash it with something tulle and bright and add crazy tights. Don’t forget the bob-length blonde hair and signature red lips.
