About Us

Duluth~Superior Magazine is the lifestyle magazine of the Twin Ports region. Founded by Publisher Marti Buscaglia and first published in February 2008, Duluth~Superior Magazine reflects all that is good and exciting about living in the Northland.

That means focusing on our vibrant art community, as well as fishing and hunting opportunities. We highlight the best of everything in restaurants, nightlife, style and fashion, while never forgetting the natural beauty that surrounds us in every season.

Duluth~Superior is a unique community. We’re here to celebrate it.

Duluth~Superior Magazine is published monthly by New Ventures Publishing Corporation. The single issue price is $3.95. Subscriptions are available for $22.00 per year.

Staff

MARTI BUSCAGLIA, PUBLISHER AND CEO

The former publisher of the Duluth News Tribune, Marti brings more than 20 years experience in the publishing industry as well as the enthusiasm and vision to make Duluth~Superior Magazine truly unique. This is Marti’s third magazine launch and one she is most excited about. Duluth~Superior Magazine is a celebration of our geography, our people and our future, a reflection of a growing marketplace in a spectacularly unique setting. Inspirational as well as aspirational, Duluth~Superior Magazine will showcase events and attitudes in the Northland’s pristine, yet bustling, environment. Marti invites you to join us in that celebration.

  WENDY WEBB, EDITOR

Wendy is a seasoned journalist and editor with nearly 20 years of experience writing for Twin Cities-based publications including Minnesota Monthly, Midwest Home, City Pages, and many others. Wendy's first novel, The Tale of Halcyon Crane, published by Henry Holt and translated into seven languages, won the prestigious 2011 Minnesota Book Award for fiction, and was selected by the Independent Booksellers Association of America as an Indie Next Pick, by the Midwest Booksellers Association as a Midwest Connections Pick, and by the Great Lakes Booksellers Association as a Great Lakes Great Reads pick.
 

 MATHEW PAWLAK, PRODUCTION/ART DIRECTOR

Matt is an experienced designer with more than 20 years of working with magazines, books and other publications. He has a versatile background including art direction, management, print production and design, and has worked exclusively on magazine and book design for more than ten years. Matt has won several design awards and has owned his own advertising and design business.

 
DAVID HILEMAN, SALES MANAGER

David has over 15 years media experience mainly in the
broadcast and cable industry focusing on advertising sales.
He was most recently General Manager at Georgia Eagle Media
in Warner Robins, GA and prior to that was the General
Manager at KQDS TV FOX 21 in Duluth, MN. David is committed
to help advertisers grow their business by effectively
advertising in Duluth Superior Magazine and City of Duluth
Quarterly Magazine.

 

 

 ROBERT LILLEGARD, WEB/CALENDAR EDITOR

Robert has written for the New York Times, Midwest Living, and Latina and is a regular contributor to national food industry journals. In addition to the stories he writes for every issue of DSM, he edits the web site and puts togther the popular Arts and Entertainment and Outdoor Calendars.
