Happy Birthday, Josie
“I prayed to God for a daughter and he sent me a princess.”
My sweet Josie was born one year ago today. It still continues to amaze me that God sent me a baby girl.
She showed up with a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye, a love for people, a zest for life and love of music. She wiggles her little butt to the beat, and it’s the cutest thing ever.
We celebrated her first birthday this weekend at my parent’s farm. It was an exciting event, as I threw Josie’s “Princess Birthday.” She wore her little pink crown as she ate her first piece of cake and opened her first birthday presents.
As a mother, I enjoy looking back and reflecting on the past year, and how far we’ve come. There were complications during Josie’s birth, and we are both lucky to be alive. She’s my little miracle baby.
And I’ve watched as she developed from a newborn into a little girl. It’s hard for me to even imagine watching her, as she grows into a little lady in the upcoming years. I can hardly wait.
As I pass down my advice from mother to daughter, it will be simple.
Put God first. Start each day in prayer, and end each day the same way.
The storms will come my baby girl, but just hold on tight and keep the faith, because He is with you every step of the way.
And when life is good, cherish those moments, and don’t forget to give thanks.
I had a small simple gift for my daughter on her first birthday. A pillow, with a saying stitched across the front that read, “I prayed to God for a daughter, and he sent me a princess.”
And I hope she keeps that simple pillow with her forever to remind her just how much she is cherished and loved.
